The No. 4 Screen Focus Kodak was one of the first rollfilm cameras to feature a ground glass focusing screen. The unique rollfilm holder was held by hinge pins to the top of the camera back, allowing it to be swung up to permit a ground glass focusing screen to be attached for accurate framing and focusing, as shown at the right. A dark slide normally covers the film opening on the back, so that the rollfilm is not exposed when the back is up in this posiion. When not mounted to the camera back, the focusing screen is stored in the slot visible on the right side of the back. The No. 4 Screen Focus Kodak was also available with a 4x5 plate holder back. |

This is another view of the No. 4 Screen Focus Kodak with the back raised into the focusing position and the ground glass focusing screen mounted. The top of the dark slide is visible on the film back, just above the leather handle. |
